Senior Alex Korkuc (So. Setauket, N.Y.) recorded a 73 in the final round of the NCAA Atlantic/East Regional Championship on Saturday, but the Southern New Hampshire University men's golf team was one of five teams to withdraw following a pair of long weather-related delays at the Oglebay Resort-Jones Course.
INDIVIDUAL PERFORMERS
- Korkuc submitted his best round of the tournament to total up a 233.
- Junior Jack Pepin (Plaistow, N.H.), sophomores Sean Dully (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.) and Evan Rollins (Laconia, N.H.), and senior Nick Tufts (Auburn, N.H.) all had holes to finish to complete their rounds when the Penmen withdrew.
NOTES
- Gannon University (864) won the tournament with a 23-shot win over the University of Charleston (887). Those two, as well as St. Thomas Aquinas College (889), Indiana University of Pennsylvania (892) and Post University (905) all qualified for the NCAA National Championship.
- Gannon's Shaunak Rama (211) rallied to win individual medalist honors with a two-stroke victory over teammate Michael Wareham (213) and Davis & Elkins College's Matin Eisa (213). Eisa and Adelphi University's Filip Qetterqvist both qualified for the NCAA National Championship as individuals.
- The NCAA Atlantic/East Regional Championship was comprised of 108 golfers from 26 different institutions. Twenty teams qualified, as well as eight individual golfers from six schools.
