GREENWOOD, Ind. – Sophomore
Peyton Feldman (Foxboro, Mass.), and seniors
Bella Dickinson (Scarborough, Maine),
Ari Ferrier (Middleboro, Mass.) and
Leine McKechnie (Passadumkeag, Maine) of the Southern New Hampshire University softball team were all selected to the Academic All-District Team, selected by College Sports Communicators, on Tuesday.
Feldman, a biology major and nutrition minor with a 3.77 grade-point average, adds to her list of accolades from the 2024 season that includes National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) East All-Region First Team, Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) East All-Region Second Team and NE10 All-Conference First Team. Feldman, who started all 43 games, hit .381 (59-155) with 12 extra-base hits, including a home run, 22 RBI and 25 runs scored. She was on base at a .422 clip and slugged .471 for an .893 OPS. Feldman also flashed a .987 fielding percentage, making just one error in 75 total chances in the outfield. Feldman led the NE10 in hits, while ranking second in batting, sixth in OBP and total bases (73), seventh in doubles (11), 11th in runs, 15th in RBI, 19th in slugging and 25th in fielding.
Dickinson earns the award for the second straight season after starting all 42 contests she played in, going 38-for-145 (.262) at the plate with a pair of home runs, 19 RBI and 18 runs scored. The shortstop was named to the NE10 All-Defensive Team, as she made 148 of 156 plays in the field and ranked fourth in the league in assists. Dickinson is a business administration major with a concentration in global business and owns a 3.97 GPA.
Ferrier, a communication major with a 3.75 GPA, started all 43 games, hitting .380 (30-107) with four home runs, 20 RBI and 20 runs scored, while slugging .477. In the conference, she sat just outside the top 10 in home runs and ranked inside the top 20 in slugging.
McKechnie made 23 appearances in the circle, including 16 starts. She finished the season 10-8 with a save and a 2.25 earned-run average (ERA), allowing 85 hits and striking out 76 in 106 innings. She placed sixth in the NE10 in wins and strikeouts, seventh in strikeouts per game (5.02), eighth in ERA and opponent batting average (.214), 10th in innings and 11th in WHIP (1.23). She has recorded a 3.80 GPA as a psychology major, with minors in sociology and sport management.
The Penmen went 25-18 this season, including 14-8 in the NE10 to earn the No. 4 seed for the NE10 Championship. SNHU dropped a 3-2, 13-inning affair with Southern Connecticut State in the second round.
