Female Athlete of the Week: Ava Jakich-Kunze - Women's Soccer - Sr. - M
Ava Jakich-Kunze (Moscow, Idaho) scored a pair of goals, including the eventual game winner in the 29th minute and then an insurance marker in the 64th, as 10th-ranked women's soccer remained unbeaten with a 3-1 victory over Wilmington (Del.) University on Friday night in its home opener.
Male Athlete of the Week: Martin Zapata - Men's Soccer - So., M
Martin Zapata (Pamplona, Spain) registered five points on a pair of goals and an assist during a 1-1-0 week for men's soccer. Zapata scored twice to help power the Penmen to a 7-0 triumph over 23rd-ranked Post University and then assisted on the lone goal in a 2-1 loss to Thomas Jefferson University.

Notes:
- Women's soccer, ranked 10th in the latest United Soccer Coaches Division II Top 25 Poll, remained unbeaten with a 3-1 victory over Wilmington (Del.) University on Friday night in its home opener.
- Senior Ava Jakich-Kunze (Moscow, Idaho) scored a pair of goals, including the eventual game winner in the 29th minute and then an insurance marker in the 64th.
- Anderson notched a goal and an assist, knocking home the first goal of the match in the 24th minute.
- Graduate student Kassidy Michael (Manheim, Pa.) played a key role in a defensive effort that limited Wilmington to just eight shots, including five on target, and was named the NE10 Defensive Player of the Week for her efforts, earlier Monday.
- Junior Claudia Keith (Danver, Mass.) stopped four of the five shots that came her way in win. The lone goal snapped her shutout streak to begin at the season at 213:17.

Notes:
- Men's soccer went 1-1-0 last week, capturing a 7-0 victory at 23rd-ranked Post University on Wednesday, before being edged, 2-1, at Thomas Jefferson University on Saturday.
- The seven goals and seven-goal margin of victory against Post were both the most and largest for the Penmen since an 8-1 home win over Assumption University on Oct. 18, 2014.
- Sophomore Martin Zapata (Pamplona, Spain) registered five points on a pair of goals and an assist. Zapata scored twice to help power the Penmen to the triumph over Post and then assisted on the lone goal against Jefferson.
- Graduate students Malvin Gblah (Zwedru, Liberia) and Dani Gonzalez (Llanera, Spain) each tallied a goal and an assist against the Eagles.
- Senior Preston Neal (Windham, N.H.) stopped four of the six shots he faced. Neal made all three saves he needed to for his second clean sheet of the season at Post, before turning away one shot in the one-goal loss to the Rams.

Notes:
- Field hockey split a pair of matches last week, as it scored a 2-1 road win at Bentley University on Wednesday, before dropping a 5-2 decision to defending NCAA Division II National Champion and No. 1-ranked Kutztown University on Saturday. The Golden Bears entered the tilt at 3-0 and had allowed just three shots to opponents, with none of them on goal.
- Junior Anne Wiersma (Veldhoven, Netherlands) recorded a goal and an assist in the Bentley win. She scored the game winner in the 44th minute.
- Senior Annemartine Christis (s-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands) scored both goals against Kutztown.
- Sophomore Jade Hendriks (Huissen, Netherlands) tied it against the Falcons in the 40th minute.
- Sophomore Emma Peeters (Wageningen, Netherlands) stopped 16 of the 22 shots she faced in the two contests. She turned away seven of eight in the victory at Bentley and then racked up nine stops against the Golden Bears.

- Women's volleyball halved its four matches at the Wildcat Regional Invitational last week, dropping three-set matches to host Wilmington (Del.) University and Shepherd University on Friday, before sweeping Thomas Jefferson University (3-1) and Holy Family University (3-0) on Saturday.
- Senior Julia Cavalcanti (Vineyard, Utah) led the team with 34 kills (2.62 k/s), while filling out the rest of the stat sheet with five aces (0.38 sa/s), eight blocks (0.62 b/s) and eight digs (0.62 d/s), to earn All-Tournament Team honors. She led the team with 11 kills on .360 hitting in the Jefferson win and then had seven on .583 hitting against Holy Family.
- Freshman Addie Garn (Gilbert, Ariz.) handed out 74 assists (5.69 a/s), while adding eight aces (0.62 sa/s), 42 digs (3.23 d/s) and six blocks (0.46 b/s). In the doubleheader sweep of the Rams and Tigers, Garn totaled up 54 helpers, four aces, 19 digs and four blocks.
- Junior Laura Haas (Londonderry, N.H.) served up 10 aces during the weekend, including eight against Holy Family.

Notes:
- Women's tennis posted a 5-2 victory at Franklin Pierce on Tuesday and then spent Friday-Sunday at the ITA East Regional Championships in Flushing, N.Y., at the Billie Jean King USTA National Tennis Center.
- Freshman Lois Tsui (Amsterdam, Netherlands) went 9-2 last week, including 5-1 in singles. She began the week with a 4-6, 7-5, 6-2 win against Zoe Asterio-Correa in the match against Franklin Pierce. She then went 4-1 to advance to the quarterfinal round of the singles bracket of the ITA East Regional Championship. Without the benefit of an opening-round bye, she defeated three seeded opponents, before falling to the No. 14 seed. On the doubles side, she and sophomore Justina Haver (Taipei, Taiwan) beat Asterio-Correa and Gabriela Yamate, 6-3, in the FPU match and then won three matches, including against the second and fifth seeds, to reach the semifinals of the ITA East Regional Championship doubles bracket. They were eventually defeated by the No. 3 seed.

- Men's tennis competed at the ITA East Regional Championships in Flushing, N.Y., at the Billie Jean King USTA National Tennis Center on Friday-Sunday.
- Senior Cade Nadeau (Quispamsis, New Brunswick) went 4-2, combined, as he won a pair of matches to reach the Round of 16 of the singles bracket, where he fell to the top seed in a third-set tiebreaker. He and sophomore Jaden Williams (Green Acres, Fla.) also won a pair of matches in the doubles bracket, advancing to the quarterfinals, before suffering an 8-6 loss to the No. 1 seed.
