Freshman Andrew Surprenant (Boscawen, N.H.) is atop the individual leaderboard at 8-under 136, as the Southern New Hampshire University men's golf team is in first place following Monday's opening round of the Granite State Opener at Beaver Meadow Golf Course in Concord, N.H.

INDIVIDUAL PERFORMERS

• Surprenant began with a 3-under 69 and followed it up with a 5-under 67 to tie Merrimack's Nerraj Shetty (70/66) for first place.
• Freshman Sam Maurice (Auburn, N.H.) is tied for third with a 4-under 140 after shooting a 71 in the first round and a 69 in the second.
• Junior Evan Rollins (Laconia, N.H.) is at 4-over 148 and tied for 22nd. He shot a 76 in the morning and rebounded with an even-par 72 in the afternoon.
• Senior Jack Pepin (Plaistow, N.H.) submitted a 151, with a 75 in the opening round and a 76 in the second that was shed from the team score.
• Junior Sean Dully (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.) had his first-round 81 dropped from the team score, but shaved seven strokes off in the second round for a 74 that gave him a 155.

NOTES

• Freshman Stephen Ramos (Danville, N.H.), playing as an individual, is tied for 15th with a 2-over 146 (74/72).
• Graduate student Alex Korkuc (So. Setauket, N.Y.), also playing as an individual, totaled a 150 (76/74).
• Sophomore Mitchell Cormier (Walpole, N.H.), another Penmen individual, matched Dully with a 155 (81/74)
• Sophomore Drew Cameron (Londonderry, N.H.), the final SNHU individual, shot 157 (79/78).
• SNHU's 573 is four strokes ahead of Merrimack College's A team (577).
• The 282 in the second round is tied for the seventh lowest team score in program history, while the 573 is tied for the second lowest two-round score.
• The Granite State Opener is comprised of 75 golfers from 13 different institutions.
