Freshman Sam Maurice (Auburn, N.H.) carded an even-par 72 in the opening round Monday, as the Southern New Hampshire University men's golf team is currently in second place at the Penmen Fall Invitational at Montcalm Golf Club in Enfield, N.H.

INDIVIDUAL PERFORMERS

• Maurice is tied for fifth, just three strokes off the pace.
• Junior Evan Rollins (Laconia, N.H.) and sophomore Mitchell Cormier (Walpole, N.H.) are tied for eighth after shooting 74.
• Junior Sean Dully (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.) and freshman Andrew Surprenant (Boscawen, N.H.) both shot 77s to tie for 21st, with one of them being dropped from the team score.

NOTES

• Freshman Stephen Ramos (Danville, N.H.), playing as an individual, is seventh at 1-over, following his 73.
• Senior Jack Pepin (Plaistow, N.H.), also playing as an individual, submitted a 3-over 75 to tie for 13th.
• Graduate student Alex Korkuc (So. Setauket, N.Y.), another Penmen individual, also totaled a 77.
• Sophomore Drew Cameron (Londonderry, N.H.), the final SNHU individual, shot 88.
• Assumption University's A team is in the lead with a 291 – six shots ahead of SNHU.
• The Penmen Fall Invitational is comprised of 45 golfers from seven different institutions.
