Sophomore Mitchell Cormier (Walpole, N.H.) fired a 1-under 71 Tuesday to place second, overall, and help the Southern New Hampshire University men's golf team rally to win the Penmen Fall Invitational at Montcalm Golf Club in Enfield, N.H.

INDIVIDUAL PERFORMERS

• Cormier, who shot 74 in the opening round Monday, added his 71 to finish at 1-over 145, five shots off the pace in second place.
• Freshman Andrew Surprenant (Boscawen, N.H.) shaved five strokes off his opening round with an even-par 72 that tied him for eighth with a 5-over 149.
• Junior Sean Dully (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.) was one shot better in the second round, carding a 76 to tie for 16th with a 153.
• Junior Evan Rollins (Laconia, N.H.) rounded out the Penmen scorers with a 78. He finished tied for 12th with a 152.

NOTES

• Freshman Sam Maurice (Auburn, N.H.) had his 80 dropped from the team score and tied for 12th with a 152 that matched Rollins.
• Graduate student Alex Korkuc (So. Setauket, N.Y.), playing as an individual, turned in a 75 in the second round and tied for 12th at 152.
• Freshman Stephen Ramos (Danville, N.H.), another Penmen individual, shot 79 and also tied for 12th with a 152.
• Senior Jack Pepin (Plaistow, N.H.), also playing as an individual, recorded an 81 and finished with a two-round total of 156.
• Sophomore Drew Cameron (Londonderry, N.H.), the final SNHU individual, totaled a 174 (88/86).
• SNHU defeated Assumption University's A team, which led by six shots after the opening round, by a single stroke.
• Dominican (N.Y.) University's Alexander Lundvall earned individual medalist honors at 4-under 140 (71/69), defeating Cormier by five shots.
• The Penmen Fall Invitational was comprised of 45 golfers from seven different institutions.

• The Penmen have their final tune-up for the NE10 Championship next Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 30 and Oct. 1, when they travel to Great River Golf Club in Milford, Conn., for the Sacred Heart Fall Classic.
