Sophomore Jordyn Carroll (Moultonborough, N.H.) totaled 18 kills on the day, but the Southern New Hampshire University women's volleyball team dropped a pair of matches Saturday at Assumption University. The Penmen fell to the Greyhounds, 3-0, in a Northeast 10 Conference match before closing out the afternoon with a 3-0 non-conference setback to Wilmington (Del.) University at Andrew Laska Gymnasium.
NOTES
- Carroll led the offense with eight kills against Assumption and, matching a career-best with 10 more in the second match versus Wilmington. She also contributed a combined 13 digs on the day, including a career-best eight against the Wildcats.
- Freshman Jayden Chapman (Carthage, N.Y.) was highly efficient in the Wilmington match, hitting .500 with seven kills and a block.
- Graduate student Ariana Davila (Austin, Texas) handed out 33 assists across the two matches and added three service aces.
- Senior Alexandra Friebolin (Plant City, Fla.) and freshman Sophie Chevalier (Charlton, N.Y.) chipped in six kills apiece, while Chevalier also led the team defensively with 21 digs.
- Graduate student Meri Ibrahimi (Woburn, Mass.) tallied 19 digs on the day, continuing her steady play in the back row.
- Junior Daya Jean-Baptiste (Miami, Fla.) and freshman Kyra Pickles (Galloway, Ohio) each recorded multiple blocks as SNHU continued to battle at the net.
- Assumption wins its fourth straight match against the Penmen, but SNHU leads all-time 23-20.
- The Penmen have won four of the six meetings all-time with the Wildcats.
WHAT'S NEXT
- The next match for SNHU will be on Tuesday, Oct. 21 (6:00 p.m.) against Franklin Pierce University at the Stan Spirou Field House in what will be the first conference home match of the season.
