Graduate student Sydnie DeVries (Monson, Mass.) recorded a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds to help the Southern New Hampshire University women's basketball team open the season with a 68-55 victory over Post University Friday at the Saint Anselm College Opener.
KEY MOMENTS   
  • SNHU jumped out to a 16-15 lead after the first quarter, then clamped down defensively, holding Post to just five points in the second to take a 35-20 halftime advantage.
  • Senior Meghan Gordon (Attleboro, Mass.) scored eight of her team-high 15 points in the opening half to help the Penmen pull away.
  • Junior Ava Winterburn (New Boston, N.H.) hit back-to-back three-pointers midway through the third quarter to keep momentum on SNHU's side.
  • Post trimmed the margin to 10 in the fourth, but DeVries (Monson, Mass.) grabbed a key offensive rebound and scored inside to help secure the win.
NOTES
  • Gordon led SNHU with 15 points, while Winterburn (Dayton, Ohio) added 14.
  • The Penmen held Post to just 30 percent shooting and owned a 49-41 rebounding edge.
  • SNHU improves to 1-0 to begin the 2025-26 season, topping the Eagles in the season-opener for the second consecutive season.  The Penmen lead Post all-time 12-2 with wins in 11 of the last 12 meetings.
  • The Penmen have won the last five season openers.
