Philipp Herrmann (Bruckmuehl, Germany), all of the sixth-ranked Southern New Hampshire University men's soccer team, collected Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) East All-Region honors Tuesday evening.
Castro collects First Team honors for the second consecutive season after scoring five goals and dishing an assist for 11 points, while starting all 18 matches he has played in. He is tied for 10th in the league in goals. Castro was also named an NE10 All-Conference First Team selection for the second straight year earlier this month.
Pons, the only Penmen to start all 19 matches, joins Castro on the First Team. Pons has been a key member of a defensive unit that ranks second in the league in goals allowed (15) and goals-against average (0.88). Pons, who also joined Castro on the NE10 First Team, has also contributed offensively with six points on a goal and four assists.
Fuentes received a Second Team nod after starting 18 of the 19 matches he has played in, amassing 27 points on 10 goals and seven assists. The NE10 First Teamer leads the league in game-winning goals (6), while ranking second in points, goals, assists.
Herrmann landed with Fuentes on the Second Team, after also earning NE10 First Team accolades this season. Herrmann has found the back of the net 10 times for 20 points, tying for second in the conference in goals, while placing third in points and fourth in game-winning goals (3). Herrmann, who has suited up in all 19 matches, including 18 starts, began the season on fire, scoring a goal in seven of the first eight matches, including five straight to begin the year. He was a three-time NE10 Player of the Week (Sept. 8, Sept. 15, Sept. 29).
The top-seeded Penmen (15-2-2) host an NCAA Championship third round match against four-seeded Charleston University on Sunday, Nov. 30 (3 p.m.) at Ouellette Stadium.
