Sippel Wins 500M, Bibbo Career-Best Shot Put Highlights Saturday Track & Field

Penmen Head To Break With Team Competing at Dartmouth College

The SNHU women's track and field team wrapped up its second day of competition at the Dartmouth December Invite with a collection of strong efforts across the track and field events, highlighted by a career-best performance from senior thrower Brooke Bibbo (Burlington, Mass.).

Bibbo placed third in the shot put with a lifetime-best mark of 11.72 meters, improving steadily through her series before landing her top throw on her fifth attempt. 

In the sprints, senior Hope Sinclair (Hampton, N.H.) continued her strong form, placing third in the 60 meters with a time of 7.82 after matching that mark in the prelims. Junior Jordan Wheaton (Hooksett, N.H.) advanced to the 60-hurdle final, finishing fifth. In the prelim, Wheaton matched her program record of 8.86.  She also ran a new PR in the 60m at 8.20.

Sophomore Hannah Sippel (Chester, N.H.) delivered SNHU's lone event win of the day, taking the 500 meters in 1:20.04.

Both SNHU 4x4 relay teams capped the day with podium finishes. The B squad of freshman Madison Lynch (Chelmsford, Mass.), Sinclair, Sippel, and freshman Jordyn Wall-Carty (Woodridge, N.Y.) placed second in 4:22.97. The A team of junior Kay Wheelock (Milford, Mass.), sophomore Hope Hanafin (Burlington, Mass.), sophomore Paige McInerney (Acton, Mass.), and sophomore Erika Wojcik (No. Andover, Mass.) followed in third at 4:28.20.

Freshman Lily Bower (Billerica, Mass.) placed fifth in the 60-meter final in 8.16 after advancing through the prelims. In the throws, junior Kayla Franks of Derry, N.H. recorded sixth-place finish in the shot put at 9.99 meters, a new personal mark.

Graduate student Corrina Obernesser (Westminster, Colo.) turned in a strong effort in the 3,000 meters, placing third in 10:46.71.
