Track & Field In Fifth Place after Day 1 of NE10 Outdoor Championships

When and Where: May 1, 2026 – Northeast 10 Outdoor Track & Field Championships (Southern Connecticut State University – New Haven, Conn.)
Results: 5th of 8 (18 points)

The SNHU women's track & field team opened competition at the Northeast 10 Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Friday at Southern Connecticut State University and sits fifth overall with 18 points after the first day.

TRACK
  • Senior Hope Sinclair (Hampton, N.H.) led the way on the track, qualifying for Saturday's finals in both the 100 meters and 200 meters. Sinclair posted a time of 11.94 in the 100-meter prelims and followed with a 25.01 in the 200 meters.
  • Sophomore Hannah Sippel (Chester, N.H.) also advanced to the finals, qualifying in the 400 meters with a season-best time of 57.63.
  • Junior Kay Wheelock (Milford, Mass.) secured a spot in the finals of the 400-meter hurdles, recording a personal-best time of 1:05.31 in the preliminaries.
  • Sophomore Erika Wojcik (North Andover, Mass.) continued her strong season form, winning her heat and qualifying for the 800-meter final with a time of 2:17.94.
  • In distance finals, junior Deirdre Bailat (North Billerica, Mass.) scored for the Penmen with a third-place finish in the 10,000 meters, crossing the line in 39:40.23.
  • Graduate student Corrina Obernesser (Westminster, Colo.) added points with a fourth-place finish in the 1,500 meters (4:54.91).
  • SNHU also scored in the 4x800-meter relay, as the quartet of junior Natalie Sicard (Nottingham, N.H.), freshman Erin Kelley (Braintree, Mass.), Bailat, and sophomore Aveline McCabe (White Bear Lake, Minn.) finished sixth in 10:58.34.
FIELD
  • Junior Kayla Franks (Derry, N.H.) added to SNHU's scoring efforts with a fourth-place finish in the javelin, recording a throw of 39.45 meters.
  • Freshman Jordyn Wall-Carty (Woodridge, N.Y.) led the SNHU jumpers in the horizontal events, posting a mark of 5.17 meters in the long jump, while freshman Lily Bower (Billerica, Mass.) was 15th at 5.06m.  Freshman Erin Kelley (Coventry, R.I.) finished 17th.
NOTES
  • Freshman Lindy Moreland (Gorham, Maine) is in third place after the first three of seven events in the Heptathlon with 695 points.  She had the top score in the high jump on Friday.
  • Sinclair is the program record holder at both 100m and 200m.
  • The Southern Connecticut State men and women have leads in the team competition after Friday's scored events.
