Ugo Nwachukwu (Imo State, Nigeria) of the Southern New Hampshire University men's basketball team was selected as the NE10 Player of the Week for the period ending Dec. 14, the league office announced Monday.
Nwachukwu, who also collected the award Nov. 23, averaged 24.5 points, 11.0 rebounds, 1.0 assist and 1.0 steal per game, while shooting 57.6 percent (19-33) from the field, including 45.5 percent (5-11) from beyond the arc, and draining all six free throws during a 2-0 week for SNHU. Nwachukwu recorded 18 points (6-11 FG, 2-5 3-FG, 4-4 FT), nine rebounds and two steals in a 74-69 victory over the University of Bridgeport on Tuesday, before erupting for 31 points (13-22 FG, 3-6 3-FG, 2-2 FT) and 13 rebounds in a 92-80 win at Saint Anselm College on Saturday.
In four contests this season, Nwachukwu is pouring in 18.7 points per game on 61.9 percent (73-118) shooting, including 50 percent (14-28) from downtown, while grabbing 10.0 rebounds and dishing 1.0 assist. He is pacing the NE10 in rebounding, field goals made and 3-point field goal percentage, while ranking second in scoring, fifth in field goal percentage and sixth in free throws made (27).
