MANAHAWKIN, N.J. – Junior Emma Peeters (Wageningen, Netherlands) of the Southern New Hampshire University field hockey team was chosen as the NFHCA Division II National Scholar-Athlete on Wednesday.
Peeters becomes the second SNHU athlete to be named National Scholar-Athlete. Laura van der Doorn (Beverwijk, Netherlands) earned the award in 2019.
Peeters showcased excellence both on and off the field, maintaining an impressive 3.92 GPA while anchoring the net for the 16-4 Penmen. Starting all 20 games, she led SNHU to 10 shutouts—the most in Division II—while also topping the nation with a .843 save percentage.
Her stellar performance earned her NFHCA Division II All-American honors, along with multiple accolades, including All-NE10 recognition and NE10 Goalkeeper of the Year. Academically, Peeters excelled as well, securing Academic All-NE10 honors, recognition as an NFHCA Division I Scholar of Distinction, and a spot on the Division I National Academic Squad.
The NFHCA National Scholar-Athlete honor is presented annually to the Division II First Team All-American undergraduate who earns the highest cumulative grade-point average through the first semester of the current academic year.
