Men's Golf Finishes Three Strokes Back at Hawk Invitational

Rollins, Surprenant tie for fifth at 1-over 72

Junior Evan Rollins (Laconia, N.H.) and freshman Andrew Surprenant (Boscawen, N.H.) each turned in a 1-over 72, as the Southern New Hampshire University men's golf team finished third at Saint Anselm College's Hawk Invitational on Tuesday at Candia Woods Golf Links. Monday's opening round was canceled due to rain, turning the tournament into an 18-hole affair.

INDIVIDUAL PERFORMERS
  • Rollins and Surprenant finished tied for fifth – three shots back of the leader.
  • Freshman Sam Maurice (Auburn, N.H.) tied for 22nd with a 76.
  • Junior Sean Dully (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.) rounded out the Penmen scorers with a 77 that tied him for 27th.
NOTES
  • Graduate student Alex Korkuc (So. Setauket, N.Y.) had his 78 dropped from the team score.
  • Sophomore Drew Cameron (Londonderry, N.H.), playing as an individual, carded an 80.
  • Saint Anselm and Post University finished tied at 10-over 294 – three shots in front of the Penmen.
  • Assumption University's Chris Stilwell won individual medalist honors, playing as an individual, with a 2-under 69, edging Post's Joe Ensign by a single stroke.
  • Rollins had one of the round's two eagles, while his four birdies were tied for the third most.
  • The Hawk Invitational was comprised of 52 golfers from eight different institutions.
WHAT'S NEXT
  • The Penmen are back in action Friday and Saturday, April 18-19 when they host the Penmen Spring Invitational at Beaver Meadow Golf Course in Concord.
