Men's Golf Scores 8-Under in Final Round to Finish Tied for Second at Penmen Spring Invite

Freshman Andrew Surprenant (Boscawen, N.H.) fired a 4-under 69 in the final round of the Penmen Spring Invitational on Saturday, as the Southern New Hampshire University men's golf team scored the lowest round of the day to charge up the leaderboard and finish tied for second at Beaver Meadow Golf Course.

INDIVIDUAL PERFORMERS
  • Surprenant shaved eight strokes off his opening-round score to finish at even-par 144 in a tie for 11th place.
  • Senior Jack Pepin (Plaistow, N.H.) improved by six shots from Friday, as he carded a 3-under 69 to match Surprenant at even-par 144.
  • Junior Evan Rollins (Laconia, N.H.), who was SNHU's top golfer in the opening round with an even-par 72, shot a 2-under 70 on Saturday to tie for sixth at 2-under 142.
  • Freshman Sam Maurice (Auburn, N.H.) rounded out the Penmen scorers with a 1-over 73, as he finished tied for 17th with a 3-over 147.
NOTES
  • Junior Sean Dully (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.) matched Maurice with a 73 that did not count toward the team score. He finished 7-over with a 151.
  • Freshman Stephen Ramos (Danville, N.H.), playing as an individual, submitted an even-par 72 to slot in 20th at 4-over 148.
  • Sophomore Drew Cameron (Londonderry, N.H.), also playing as an individual, penciled in a 75 to total a 155.
  • Graduate student Alex Korkuc (So. Setauket, N.Y.), another individual, finished at 7-over 151 after shooting a 76.
  • Sophomore Mitchell Cormier (Walpole, N.H.), the final Penmen individual, collected a 158 (80/78).
  • Wilmington (Del.) University was five shots better than in the opening round, winning the tournament with a 571, which was six shots in front of SNHU and Assumption University (577).
  • Franklin Pierce University's Seth Saffell and Wilmington's Noah Wallace finished as co-individual medalists at 6-under 138.
  • Rollins' 11 birdies were the second most in the tournament, while Pepin (9) tied for fourth and Surprenant  (8) tied for sixth.
  • The Penmen Spring Invitational was comprised of 45 golfers from seven different institutions.

  • The Penmen wrap up the regular season Tuesday and Wednesday, April 22-23 when they host the Penmen Season Finale at Derryfield Country Club in Manchester.
