Senior Jack Pepin (Plaistow, N.H.) turned in a 79 in the final round of the NCAA Atlantic/East Regional on Saturday, as the Southern New Hampshire University men's golf team finished 16th at Whispering Woods Golf Club.
INDIVIDUAL PERFORMERS
- Pepin, who was in third place after the first two rounds, wound up ninth with a 7-over 223 (77/67/79). He just missed the cut for NCAA National Championship as the third finisher from a non-advancing team.
- Freshman Sam Maurice (Auburn, N.H.), who shot an 89 in the opening round and was substituted out of the lineup for round two, penciled in an 80.
- Junior Evan Rollins (Laconia, N.H.) recorded an 83 to total a 244 (74/87/83) and place 75th.
- Graduate student Alex Korkuc (So. Setauket, N.Y.) rounded out the Penmen scorers with an 85. He finished with a 254 (82/87/85).
NOTES
- Freshman Andrew Surprenant (Boscawen, N.H.) had his 86 dropped from the team score and registered a 244 (77/81/86).
- Junior Sean Dully (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.), who subbed in for the second round and shot an 84, did not play in the final round.
- Davis & Elkins College (888), Gannon University (888) and the University of Charleston (903) all qualified for the NCAA National Championship.
- Davis & Elkins' Aidan Talent (68/73) earned individual medalist honors at 3-under 141, just one stroke in front of Gannon's Rasmus Seppanen (72/71).
- St. Thomas Aquinas College's Nolan Skaggs (216) and Adelphi University's Johnny Solari (221) both qualified for the NCAA National Championship, as the top two golfers from non-advancing teams.
- Pepin finished tied for fourth with 12 birdies over the three rounds.
- The NCAA Atlantic/East Regional was comprised of 100 golfers from 20 different institutions, as well as eight golfers playing as individuals from seven different schools.
