Herrmann, Iriarti Claim NE10 Weekly Awards for Men's Soccer

Herrmann Wins Third Player of the Week Honor This Season

NO. ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Senior Philipp Herrmann (Bruckmuehl, Germany) of the 3rd-ranked Southern New Hampshire University men's soccer team was selected as the NE10 Player of the Week, while junior Inigo Iriarte (Pamplona, Spain) was named Defensive Player of the Week for the period ending Sept. 28, the league office announced Monday.

Herrmann, whose eight goals are tied for the most in NCAA Division II, found the back of the net in both matches last week. He scored the lone goal in Wednesday's 1-0 win over Saint Michael's, before adding another tally in Saturday's 2-1 victory against American International College. Herrmann has now earned NE10 Player of the Week honors four times in his career, including three times this season.

Iriarte anchored a defensive unit that conceded just one goal over the two matches. The Penmen allowed only seven shots – three on goal – in Wednesday's 1-0 shutout of Saint Michael's, and then surrendered just nine shots, including three on frame, in Saturday's 2-1 win over the Yellow Jackets.

The Penmen (6-0-2, 2-0-1 NE10) return to action Saturday (Oct. 4) at 4 p.m. when they host Adelphi University at Ouellette Stadium.
