SNHU Women’s Track & Field Places Third at USM Husky Invitational

Penmen earn four event victories in strong team performance

When and Where: January 31, 2026 (USM Husky Invitational, Costello Field House) - Gorham, Maine
Results: 3rd of 10 (79 points)

SNHU Indoor Track & Field continued the weekend of competition on Saturday at the USM Husky Invitational, finishing third overall in a scored meet highlighted by four event wins.

Senior Hope Sinclair (Hampton, N.H.) established a new school record at 55m, winning the race in 7.31 second.  Last month Sinclair set a new SNHU mark at 60m.

SCORES AND NOTES FROM SATURDAY AT USM:

WIN - 55m – Sinclair won the event in 7.31 seconds, earning 10 points for SNHU 
55m – Freshman Jordyn Wall-Carty (Woodridge, N.Y.) placed fifth in 7.54 with her qualifying run of 7.52 a new PR
55m – Freshman Lily Bower (Billerica, Mass.) finished eighth in 7.67 in her first try at the distance

200m – Sinclair added a second-place finish in 26.39
200m – Freshman Kaylin Findley (Wallingford, Conn.) ran 28.04, a new personal mark
200m – Sophomore Hope Hanafin (Burlington, Mass.) finished in 29.37

WIN - 400m – Sophomore Hannah Sippel (Chester, N.H.) captured first place in 59.16
WIN - 600m – Junior Kay Wheelock (Milford, Mass.) won the 600 meters with a new best of 1:42.57
600m – Hanafin placed fifth at 1:49.67

55m hurdles – Freshman Lindy Moreland (Gorham, Maine) placed third in the final with a time of 8.95, breaking her best mark

WIN - High jump – Moreland won the event by clearing 1.55 meters 
High jump – Freshman Ciara Pina (Taunton, Mass.) placed third with a clearance of 1.45 meters
High jump – Freshman Elizabeth Descheneaux (Methuen, Mass.) tied for fourth at 1.40 meters, her best of the season

Triple jump – Wall-Carty finished seventh with a best mark of 9.76 meters - also a new mark for the freshman.
Shot put – Senior Brooke Bibbo (Burlington, Mass.) had the best throw of her career and placed fifth at 11.77 meters

Host Southern Maine was the top point scoring team (154 points), edging out Keene State College (149 points) on the women's side.
