NO. ATTLEBORO, Mass. – After a scorching opening weekend at the plate, senior Dakota Britt (Rockwall, Texas) of the Southern New Hampshire University baseball team was named the Northeast 10 Player of the Week on Monday.
Making his debut for the Penmen at the Northeast Challenge in Myrtle Beach, S.C., Britt was nearly impossible to retire during a 3-1 week. He batted .706 (12-for-17) with eight RBI and 10 runs scored. Britt also walked four times to raise his on-base percentage to .773 and added three doubles for a .882 slugging percentage. He recorded at least three hits and three runs scored in each of the three wins, including a 5-for-5 performance in the final game of the week – a 7-5 victory over the College of Staten Island on Saturday.
The Penmen are next scheduled to play D'Youville University in a pair of doubleheaders Saturday and Sunday (2/28 and 3/1) at Diamond Nation in Flemington, N.J.
