Penmen Compete at UNH Wildcat Invitational

Sinclair records runner-up finishes in 100m and 200m

The SNHU women's track & field team closed out the regular season on Saturday at the Wildcat Invitational, competing against a Division I-heavy field at the University of New Hampshire. The Penmen now turn their focus to the Northeast 10 Championships next weekend.

TRACK
  • Senior Hope Sinclair (Hampton, N.H.) led the way for SNHU in the sprints, finishing second in the 100 meters with a time of 12.09 and adding another runner-up performance in the 200 meters in 24.80, a new personal best mark.  
  • Sophomore Hannah Sippel (Chester, N.H.) also turned in a strong showing, placing fifth in the 100 meters (12.55) and third in the 200 meters (25.55) against a competitive field.
  • Freshman Jordyn Wall-Carty (Woodridge, N.Y.) set new PR's on Saturday, finishing seventh in the 100 meters (12.66).  She also competed in the triple jump, with a career-best 10.12m, finishing nine.
  • Freshman Kaylin Findley (Wallingford, Conn.) placed ninth (13.03) in the 100m, also a new personal mark.
  • In the middle-distance events, graduate student Corrina Obernesser (Westminster, Colo.) led SNHU in the 800 meters, placing 14th with a new best time of 2:22.99.
  • Junior Deirdre Bailat (North Billerica, Mass.) paced the Penmen in the 1,500 meters with a 12th-place finish (5:01.15).
  • Junior Natalie Sicard (Nottingham, N.H.) followed in 20th (5:25.93).
  • In the hurdles, junior Kay Wheelock (Milford, Mass.) delivered one of SNHU's top performances, finishing third in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:08.94, while freshman Erin Kelley (Braintree, Mass.) placed sixth.
FIELD
  • Freshman Lily Bower (Billerica, Mass.) highlighted the field events with a fourth-place finish in the long jump, recording a mark of 5.30 meters, a new PR.
  • Freshman Ciara Pina (Taunton, Mass.) led SNHU in the high jump, clearing 1.45 meters.
  • In the throws, senior Brooke Bibbo (Burlington, Mass.) continued her strong season with a fourth-place finish in the shot put with a new personal best of 12.32m.
  • Junior Kayla Franks (Derry, N.H.) led SNHU in the discus with a throw of 28.48 meters.
NOTES
  • Sinclair's 200m time is not considered an SNHU program record because it was wind aided.
  • SNHU finished fifth overall in the team standings with 39 points. Host New Hampshire won the meet with 201 points, followed by UMass Lowell (119) and Bryant (114).
UP NEXT
  • The Penmen will compete at the Northeast 10 Outdoor Track & Field Championships, scheduled for May 1–2 at Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven.
