N. ATTLEBORO, Mass. – SNHU juniors Julianna Colbert (Burrillville, R.I.) and Kaysie DeMoura (Taunton, Mass.) have been named the Northeast 10 Pitcher and Player of the Week, respectively, for the period ending April 26.
The Penmen capped a 4-2 week by taking three of four games from No. 18 Franklin Pierce University in Rindge over the weekend.
Colbert won all three of her starts in the circle last week. She allowed three earned runs in the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader at Bentley, striking out eight. Colbert then followed that up with a pair of wins over the Ravens. In 12.0 innings against Franklin Pierce, she allowed two unearned runs while striking out 19. Her 15 wins this season are tied for the most in the NE10.
It was a big week for DeMoura, who extended her hitting streak to 10 games with a 10-for-21 performance. That included five doubles, a home run and nine RBIs for the Penmen. DeMoura's .375 batting average leads the team, and her on-base percentage sits at .444.
Colbert has now been named the NE10 Pitcher of the Week four times this season, while DeMoura has earned Player of the Week honors twice.
SNHU (26-18, 18-12 NE10) will finish the regular season at home, beginning with a doubleheader Tuesday against American International College (2:30 p.m.).
