Junior Jordyn Carroll (Moultonborough, N.H.) recorded 27 kills and 16 digs, but the Southern New Hampshire University women's volleyball team finished out the Jefferson Invitational with a pair of losses Saturday at the Gallagher Center. The Penmen fell to St. Thomas Aquinas College, 3-1, before dropping a four-set decision to East Stroudsburg University.
KEY MOMENTS
- After losing the first two sets against St. Thomas Aquinas by two points, Southern New Hampshire trailed 24-21 in the third with its back against the wall. A kill and back-to-back aces from freshman Valentina Bugnatto (Wilmington, N.C.) powered a 4-0 run that put the Penmen up by one. They later trailed, 27-26, but three straight, including a set-clinching kill from Carroll, pushed the match to a fourth-set.

- Southern New Hampshire has lost four straight.
- Carroll notched a double-double of 14 kills and 11 digs, while adding a pair of aces, against St. Thomas Aquinas. She registered 13 more kills against East Stroudsburg.
- Bugnatto recorded 12 kills and a team-high five aces against STAC.
- Freshman Emma Martinez (Plano, Texas) dished out 43 assists versus the Spartans.
- Fifth year Meri Ibrahimi (Woburn, Mass.) collected a team-high 15 digs and four aces against STAC.
WHAT'S NEXT
- The Penmen heads to Memphis, Tenn., for four matches at the Christian Brothers Tournament on Sept. 11-12. SNHU kicks it off Friday at 10 a.m. against LeMoyne-Own College.
- SNHU returns home Tuesday, Sept. 15 (7 p.m.) when it plays host to Franklin Pierce University in non-conference action.
