BEDFORD,
N.H. - Freshman D.J. Lantz (New London,
NH) of the Southern New Hampshire University golf team posted a 77
on day two and finished tied for third overall at the SNHU Penmen
Invitational that concluded Monday at Manchester Country
Club. As a team, the Penmen posted the second-lowest score on
day two (310) to move up two spots to third in the eight team
field. SNHU's two-day score of 633 put it 18 strokes behind
tourney champion UMass Lowell, which shot a 304 Monday to finish
with a two-day total of 615.
Robbie Douglas of UMass Lowell took
medalist honors, as he shot an even-par 71 Monday to finish the two
day event with a score of 146.
Bryant University finished second
with a score of 626, followed by SNHU and Le Moyne (639).
Bentley College and Saint Anselm College finished tied for fifth
with a score of 641, followed by Assumption College (643) and Saint
Michael's College (659).
Lantz, who was tied for the lead
with Bryant's Scott Congdon after day one with a 74, finished with
a two-day total of 151 to tie with Congdon for third. Next
for SNHU, which was the lone school with four players in the 70s
Monday, was Andrew Maziarz (Cumberland, RI), who
shot a 78 Monday for a two-day total of 157 to tie for eighth
place. Michael Gravalese (Atkinson, NH) shot
76 Monday for a two-day score of 161, good for a 16th place tie.
Matt Lucchese
(Woburn, MA) recovered from a 91 on the first day to fire a 78 on
Monday. Shane Winslow (Portsmouth, NH)
finished with a two-day total of 168 after shooting 82 in the
second round.
Southern New Hampshire wraps up its
fall season next Monday and Tuesday when it travels to The Captains
Golf Club in Brewster, MA for the NEIGA Championship.
