Men's Golf Tied for 13th After First Day of NCAA Atlantic/East Regional

Sophomore Sam Maurice (Auburn, N.H.) shot a 1-over 71 in the opening round of the NCAA Atlantic/East Regional Championship on Thursday and is tied for 13th at the Sunnehanna Country Club, with 36 holes still to play.

INDIVIDUAL PERFORMERS
  • Maurice's 71 has him tied for 13th, four strokes behind the leader.
  • Sophomore Andrew Surprenant (Boscawen, N.H.) carded a 4-over 74 and is tied for 42nd.
  • Sophomore Stephen Ramos (Danville, N.H.) was right behind with a 75.
  • Senior Sean Dully (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.) rounded out the Penmen scorers with a 77.
  • Freshman Gavin Richardson (Concord, N.H.) matched Dully and had his 77 dropped from the team score.
NOTES
  • Gannon University (285) leads Winston-Salem State University (287) by two shots.
  • Gannon's Rasmus Seppanen and Bentley University's Jack Kantowski sit atop the individual leaderboard at 3-under 67 – just a single stroke ahead of the field.
  • The NCAA Atlantic/East Regional Championship is comprised of 126 golfers from 28 different institutions.
