MANCHESTER, N.H. - Senior Sara Tucker (Red Hook, NY) totaled 17 points and 10 rebounds to lead Southern New Hampshire University to a 70-54 Northeast-10 women's basketball victory over The College of Saint Rose Wednesday night at the SNHU Fieldhouse.  The Penmen improve to 1-3 overall and 1-2 in the Northeast-10, while the Golden Knights are 1-3 overall and 0-3 in the league.

Tucker finished 8-13 from the floor and led three Penmen in double figures as she posted her second straight double-double.  Brooke Lefort (Cumberland, RI) was 5-6 from the field en route to a career-high 13 points, while Kristen Anderson (Hooksett, NH) finished with 10 points, four assists and four rebounds.  Ashara Carrington (Marblehead, MA) totaled eight points and six rebounds.

Elizabeth Buckley (East Lyme, CT) was 4-9 from three-point land and finished with a game-high 21 points for Saint Rose but had just three of her points in the second half.  Emily Gottstein (Albany, NY) finished with 11 points and eight rebounds for the Golden Knights.

Southern New Hampshire trailed 35-31 at halftime but opened the second half with a 7-2 spurt to tie the game at 38-38 on a three-pointer from Anderson at the 16:04 mark.  On SNHU's next possession Tucker would score as the Penmen took the lead for good.  The Penmen broke the game open with a 10-0 run capped by a Tucker basket at the 8:19 mark to claim a 55-43 lead.  Saint Rose would get no closer than eight points the rest of the way and SNHU took its largest lead, 70-51, with 1:15 to go on a conventional three-point play by Lefort.

Saint Rose jumped out to a 14-4 lead just over four minutes into the game following a Buckley trifecta, but the Penmen would use a 11-3 run capped by a Anderson three at the 12:49 mark to make it 17-15.  Southern New Hampshire would take its first lead since the game's opening moments on a Lefort basket with 5:56 before intermission that made it 24-22.  The guests would score six of the final eight points of the first half to take a 35-31 lead into the locker room.

The Penmen shot 55.2% in the second half and limited the Golden Knights to 28.6% shooting over the final 20 minutes, including just 1-11 from three-point land.  Saint Rose held a 37-34 rebounding advantage but was haunted by 21 turnovers.

Southern New Hampshire returns to action Saturday when it travels to Pace University for a 1:30 contest.
