LOWELL, Mass. - Freshman Stephanie
Dluginski (Floral Park, NY) registered eight kills, 11
blocks and four service aces as the Southern New Hampshire
University volleyball team snapped a 27-match winless streak
against UMass Lowell dating back to 1986 with a 3-2 win over the
River Hawks Wednesday night at Costello Gymnasium. The Penmen
remain unbeaten on the season at 3-0 (1-0 Northeast-10) while UML
is 1-2 and 0-1 in the league.
Wednesday's win marked just the
third time in 47 matches that the Penmen have defeated the River
Hawks, and the first since the 1986 campaign, a string of 27
consecutive victories by UML.
The game scores were 30-26, 24-30,
30-18, 22-30, 15-6.
Briana Doucet
(Danville, NH) had 10 kills and 21 digs for the Penmen, while
Kim Rowe (Exeter, NH) had nine kills and three
blocks. Kelly Scanlon (East Providence, RI)
handed out 22 assists and also compiled 16 digs.
Jillian Hadder led UMass Lowell
with 16 kills, 21 digs and six aces.
Southern New Hampshire returns to
action Saturday when it hosts Concordia College in a non-league
match starting at 1:00.
