CANTERBURY, N.H. -
Sophomore D.J. Lantz (New London, NH) finished in
second overall to lead the Southern New Hampshire University golf
team to a second place finish in its own SNHU Penmen Invitational
held Sunday and Monday at Canterbury Woods Golf Club. The
Penmen, who registered the second-lowest single day score in
program history with a 291 Monday, finished three strokes behind
tournament champion Le Moyne College, who bested the six-team field
with a two-day total of 593.
Lantz carded a 74 on Sunday then
followed that up with a 72 on Monday for a two-day total of 146,
three shots behind Le Moyne's Tim Martins. Jeff
Newell (Chicopee, MA) has his best outing for the Penmen,
finishing in a tie for sixth with a 151 after shooting a 73 on
Monday.
Andrew Maziarz
(Cumberland, RI) and Shane Winslow (Portsmouth,
NH) finished as part of a five-way tie for 11th with a
two-day total of 153. Winslow recorded a 73 on Sunday while
Maziarz posted a similar score on Monday. John
Devito (Nashua, NH) bettered his score by 10 strokes on
Monday, finishing with a 73 and a two-day total of 156 to finish in
a tie for 18th.
Nicholas Ricci
(Andover, MA) competed as an individual for Southern New Hampshire
and registered a two-day total of 186.
SNHU rounds out its fall schedule
next Monday and Tuesday when it competes at the NEIGA New England
Championship at The Captains in Brewster, MA.
