BREWSTER, Mass. -
The Southern New Hampshire University golf team finished second
amongst Division II schools and 14th out of 44 schools
at the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA)
Championship held at the Captains Golf Club Sunday and
Monday. The Penmen finished with a two-day score of 635,
three strokes behind Division II champion Post University.
Sophomore D.J.
Lantz (New London, NH) led the Penmen, finishing second
amongst Division II players and 21st overall with a
two-day total of 154 after shooting a 78 on Tuesday.
Shane Winslow (Portsmouth, NH) finished tied for
35th in the field of 219 golfers with a score of 157
(78-79), while John Devito (Nashua, NH) had SNHU's
low round on Tuesday, improving nine strokes to fire a 76 en route
to a two-day total of 161, placing him in a tie for
72nd.
Andrew Maziarz
(Cumberland, RI) improved his round eight strokes on Tuesday and
fired a 78 en route to a two-day total of 164, placing him in a tie
for 95th. Jeff Newell (Chicopee,
MA) had a two-day total of 168, good for 124th overall.
The NEIGA Championship closed out
the fall season for SNHU.
