ALL-REGION TEAM
MANCHESTER, N.H. -
Four members of the Southern New Hampshire University men's soccer
team were named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of
America (NSCAA)/adidas All-East Region team announced
recently. Matt Delaney (Wallasey, England),
Adrian Schippers (Ashby, MA) and Sean
Lambert (Rehoboth, MA) were all First Team selections,
while Richard Kentish (Kingston, Jamaica) was a
Second Team choice.
SNHU, on the strength of its 15-3-4
record, finished No. 11 in the final NSCAA/adidas Division II
national poll.
Delaney, who earlier was named a
Daktronics First Team All-American, anchored a defense that tied a
school record by posting 15 shutouts this season, which was also
tops in Division II. The Penmen allowed just nine goals all
season and finished the season ranked first in Division II in team
goals-against average (0.39). The senior started all 22 games
in the backfield for Southern New Hampshire and also totaled three
goals and an assist for seven points.
Schippers, the Daktronics Regional
Player of the Year and the Northeast-10 Player of the Year, led
SNHU in scoring by totaling eight goals and six assists for 22
points, while recording three game-winning goals on the
season. A two-time NE-10 Player of the Week, Schippers, in
his first season with the Penmen, was a Third Team Daktronics
All-American and First Team Northeast-10 All-Conference.
Lambert, the Northeast-10
Goalkeeper of the Year and a Second Team Daktronics All-American,
finished first in Division II in goals-against average (0.42) and
12th in save percentage (.827) while posting 12 shutouts
in goal. Also a First Team Daktronics All-Region and NE-10
All-Conference performer, Lambert was a five-time Northeast-10
Goalkeeper of the Week.
Kentish was also an intergral part
of the Penmen defense this season, starting all but one game on the
backline. A Northeast-10 First Team and Daktronics All-Region
First Team selection as well as a Daktronics Honorable Mention
All-America, Kentish was named to the All-Tournament Team of the
NE-10 Tournament. He is a two-time NE-10 All-Conference
performer.
