Delaney Leads Four Named to Daktronics Men's Soccer All-America Team

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Led by senior defender Matt Delaney's (Wallasey, England) selection to the First Team, the Southern New Hampshire University men's soccer team had a total of four players named to the Daktronics 2008 Division II All-America team released on Tuesday.  Senior goalkeeper Sean Lambert (Rehoboth, MA) was selected a Second Team All-American, while junior forward Adrian Schippers (Ashby, MA) was selected to the Third Team.  Junior defender Richard Kentish (Kingston, Jamaica) was an Honorable Mention selection.

The Daktronics Division II All-America and All-Region teams are voted on by sports information directors at NCAA Division II institutions.

Delaney, who was a First Team Daktronics All-Region selection this season as well as a Northeast-10 First Team selection for the third time in his career in 2008, anchored a defense that tied a school record by posting 15 shutouts this season.  The Penmen allowed just nine goals all season and are currently ranked first in Division II in team goals-against average (0.39).  Delaney, who also registered three goals and an assist on the season, was named the Most Outstanding Player of the Northeast-10 Tournament after the Penmen posted three shutouts en route to the tournament title.  He also scored the lone goal in a 1-0 win over Le Moyne in the championship game.
