ALBANY, N.Y. - Host The College of Saint Rose rallied from
a 15-point second half deficit to take down a 59-56 Northeast-10
women's basketball victory over Southern New Hampshire University
Tuesday evening at Nolan Gymnasium. The Golden Knights
improve to 10-11 overall and 7-10 in NE-10 play, while the Penmen
are 11-11 and 7-10 in the league.

SNHU held a 51-38 lead with 7:24
remaining following a basket by Brooke Lefort
(Cumberland, RI). Saint Rose would score eight straight
points and a three pointer by Jenna Hughes at the 5:04 mark cut the
lead to five, 51-46. The Penmen led 54-48 with 3:34 to go on
a free throw by Ashara Carrington (Marblehead,
MA), but the Golden Knights put together seven straight points to
take their first lead of the game, 55-54, with 1:36 left on a layup
by Brown.
Houghtaling would be fouled on a
putback attempt with 1:14 to go and would sink both free throws to
once again give SNHU the lead at 56-55. After the two teams
traded empty trips, Buckley would convert a layup with 40 seconds
remaining to give Saint Rose a 56-55 lead. A three-pointer by
Shay would be off the mark on the Penmen's next possession and
Gottstein would be fouled on the rebound. Gottstein missed
the front end of a one-and-one, giving SNHU one final chance with
19 seconds. A Heather Marino (Billerica, MA)
attempt was no good and after CSR's Ashley Anderson grabbed the
rebound, Hughes would sink two at the line to account for the
final.
Southern New Hampshire scored 13
unanswered points early in the game to build a 17-2 lead 8:47 into
the game following a layup by Carrington. Saint Rose
countered with a 10-2 run and a basket by Anderson with 5:53 to go
cut the Penmen lead to seven, 19-12. Six straight points
capped by a layup by Carrington with 4:29 before halftime made it
25-12, but eight straight points capped by a pair of free throws by
Gottstein with 1:31 left got Saint Rose within five, 25-20.
The Penmen led 29-20 at intermission.
SNHU limited Saint Rose to 18.8%
shooting in the first half and 33.8% for the game, but the Golden

plagued by 33 turnovers.
SNHU returns to action Saturday
when it hosts Pace University in a 1:30 contest at the SNHU
Fieldhouse. Saturday's game has been designated SNHU's "Think
Pink" game to raise breast cancer awareness.
