BOX SCORE

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Katie Dunn finished with 16 points to lead seventh-seeded Le Moyne College to a 53-39 victory over No. 10 Southern New Hampshire University in the first round of the Northeast-10 women's basketball tournament Sunday at Grant Court.  The Dolphins, who advance to Tuesday's quarterfinals at No. 2 Franklin Pierce, improve to 15-12, while the Penmen, who were making just their second appearance in the NE-10 Tournament, end the season 13-15.

Heather Marino (Billerica, MA) had a career-high 16 points for the Penmen, going 6-12 from the floor and 3-5 from three-point land. She also grabbed five rebounds.  Stephanie Houghton (Manchester, NH) totaled nine points for Southern New Hampshire.

SNHU held a 9-8 lead just under six minutes into the game following a three-pointer by Houghton, but the lead was short-lived as the Dolphins' Courtney Coryea scored on their next possession, the start of a 9-0 Le Moyne run.  Le Moyne would take its largest lead of the first half, 31-16, with 1:53 before halftime on a Dunn threee, but the Penmen would score the final six points of the frame, and a conventional three-point play by Houghton with 34 seconds left made it 31-22 at the break.

A three by Danielle Felice on the first Dolphin possession of the second half gave Le Moyne a 34-22 lead.  The Penmen would get the lead down to nine three times, the last on a basket by Brooke Lefort (Cumberland, RI) with 15:10 to play, but could get no closer.  The hosts put the game away with a late 5-0 spurt that gave the Dolphins a 53-37 lead with just over a minute to play.

Le Moyne limited Southern New Hampshire to just 25% shooting for the contest and 4-21 from long-range.  The Dolphins connected on six of their 14 three point attempts and were 13-19 from the line as opposed to SNHU's 7-11 effort.  Le Moyne also held a 40-34 rebounding advantage.

SNHU ended the season with its most victories since 1991-92 and set a school record for most Northeast-10 Conference victories (9).
