ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. - An RBI single by Ashley Guertin (Manchester, NH) in the top of the seventh inning lifted Southern New Hampshire University to a 5-4 win over Molloy College in game two of a softball doubleheader Sunday afternoon.  The Penmen, who dropped the first game 4-1, are now 10-15 overall, while the Lions are 21-19 on the season.

In the nightcap, SNHU trailed 4-1 after two innings, but quickly got two runs back in the top of the third on a two-run home run by Casey Stoodley (Salem, NH).  The Penmen would tie the game in the top of the sixth when Nicole Arpin (Cheshire, CT) led off with a double and scored when Laurie Boland (Worcester, MA) reached on a fielding error.  In the seventh, Stoodley led off the inning with a single and after advancing on an error, came home on Guertin's single.

SNHU's other run came in the top of the second when Melissa Pessotti (Burlington, MA) singled to score Valerie Martins (Somerset, MA).

Stoodley, Martins and Arpin all finished with two hits apiece in game two as the Penmen outhit the Lions 10-6.  Mary Bradford (Big Bear, CA) earned the win, allowing just one hit after the second inning and giving up a pair of earned runs.

In the opener, Molloy scored twice in the bottom of the first and after the Penmen scored in the top of the second, added another run to make it 3-1.  Molloy's other run would come in the top of the fifth.  The lone Penmen run came when a double by Guertin scored Elena Anderson (Salem, WI), who reached on a fielders' choice.

Andrea Clausi (Kingston, NY) had a pair of hits to lead SNHU in the opener.  Samantha Chickering (Hillsboro, NH) took the loss for SNHU, working the first four innings and allowing eight hits and three earned runs.

SNHU returns to NE-10 play Tuesday when it hosts UMass Lowell in a 3:00 twinbill.
