Men's Lacrosse Edged by Bentley 9-7

MANCHESTER, N.H. - Andy Curtis totaled two goals and two assists to lead Bentley College to a 9-7 win over Southern New Hampshire University in Northeast-10 men's lacrosse at Larkin Field Wednesday evening.  The Falcons improved to 7-5 overall and 5-4 in the NE-10, while the Penmen are now 5-6 and 4-5 in the league.

Mike Ball (Salem, NH) led Southern New Hampshire with three goals, while John Delanoy (Lansdale, PA) and Spencer Rennick (Peabody, MA) each finished with a goal and two assists.  Keith Merluzzo (Billerica, MA) and Sean Ball (Salem, NH) each had single goals for the Penmen.

Kevin Gould added two goals and an assist for Bentley, which also got two goals apiece from Dan Scavone and Stephen Moulton.

SNHU trailed 6-3 at halftime but scored three of the first four goals of the third quarter to pull within one, 7-6, with 4:21 left in the period on Mike Ball's third goal of the game.  The Falcons would reclaim a two-goal lead with two seconds left in the quarter when Gould scored on a fast break following a Penmen turnover.

Sean Ball would cut the lead to one once again with 11:09 to play.  Bentley would maintain the one-goal lead until the final minute, when Moulton scored with 43 seconds to play to make it 9-7, accounting for the final score.

Bentley led 2-1 after one quarter and scored the first three goals of the second quarter to take a 5-1 lead just 3:50 into the frame.  After Delanoy and Curtis traded goals, Rennick would score for the Penmen with 1:35 before halftime to make it 6-3, which would be the halftime score.

Kris Dambach made 16 saves for Bentley, which outshot Southern New Hampshire 49-37.  Mickey Hover (Middletown, NJ) played the final 41:33 in goal for the Penmen in relief of starter Eric Gunst (Exeter, NH).  Hover made 13 saves and allowed five goals.  Gunst made four saves and let in four goals.

SNHU closes out the regular season Saturday when it travels to nationally-ranked Bryant University for a 1:00 contest.
