Penmen Write Off Ravens, Run Win Streak to Five

BOX SCORE

RINDGE, N.H. - Spencer Rennick (Peabody, MA) totaled four goals and three assists as Southern New Hampshire University ran its win streak to five games with a 22-10 Northeast-10 men's lacrosse victory over Franklin Pierce University at Sodexho Field Wednesday afternoon.  The Penmen, who are receiving votes in this week's USILA Division II poll, improved to 5-2 overall and 4-1 in the NE-10, while the Ravens are now 2-5 and 1-3 in the league.

Mike Ball (Salem, NH) finished with five goals for Southern New Hampshire, which also got four goals and an assist from John Delanoy (Lansdale, PA) and Keith Merluzzo (Billerica, MA).  Sean Ball (Salem, NH) added three goals, while Cory Lefort (Cumberland, RI) and Ryan Allen (Charlestown, MA) each had single tallies.  Luke Ferreira and Ryan Boller paced Franklin Pierce with three goals each.

Southern New Hampshire held a 3-2 lead after one quarter when Mike Ball scored with five seconds left in the period to break a 2-2 tie.  The Penmen exploded for 11 goals in the second period, including three in the final 1:04 before intermission, to take a 14-4 halftime lead.  Merluzzo scored back-to-back goals with 26 and seven seconds remaining.  The Ravens would score the first two goals of the second half to cut SNHU's lead to 14-6, but four straight goals capped by a Rennick tally with 7:17 left in the third gave the guests an 18-6 lead.  The Penmen would lead 20-7 after three quarters.

Eric Gunst (Exeter, NH) earned the win in goal for SNHU, making 13 saves through three quarters before giving way to Mickey Hover (Montgomery, NJ), who made five saves in the fourth.  Shea Campbell took the loss in net for the Ravens, who were outshot 62-42.

Southern New Hampshire returns to action on Saturday afternoon when it hosts Merrimack College for a 1:00 contest at Larkin Field.
