SOUTH HADLEY, Mass.
- Freshman John Devito (Nashua, NH) of
the Southern New Hampshire University golf team finished tied for
11th at the 2008 Northeast-10 Golf Championship
to lead the Penmen to a tie for fifth place out of 12 schools
at the two-day event. SNHU, with a team score of 616,
finished 17 strokes behind tourney champion Le Moyne College.
The Penmen had three players named
Second Team All-Conference, as Devito, sophomore D.J.
Lantz (New London, NH) and senior Andrew
Maziarz (Cumberland, RI) were all named to the team.
Devito, a graduate of Nashua South
HS, shot a 73 in Sunday's first round to find himself in a four-way
tie for sixth place and shot a 79 on Monday for a two-day total of
152. Lantz was one stroke behind Devito, finishing tied
for 13th after shooting 77 on Sunday and 76 on Monday.
Maziarz shot a 79 Sunday and a
75 Monday for a two-day total of 154, placing him in a tie for
17th. Shane Winslow (Portsmouth,
NH) recorded rounds of 78 Sunday and 79 Monday for a score of 157,
placing him in a tie for 26th. Jeff
Newell (Chicopee, MA) shot 83 in both rounds to finish
48th.
New Hampshire returns to action on
October 12-13 when it hosts the SNHU Penmen Invitational at
Canterbury Woods in Canterbury, NH.
