RESULTS
LITCHFIELD, N.H. -
Holding the top three spots, the Southern New Hampshire University
golf team leads after day one of the SNHU Penmen Invitational at
Passaconaway Country Club Sunday. The Penmen posted a team
score of 296, their best of the season, to lead second-place UMass
Lowell by 15 strokes.
Holy Cross sits third with a score
of 313, followed by Franklin Pierce (319), Assumption (320) and
Manhattan (322).
Junior D.J. Lantz
(New London, N.H.) fired an even-par 71 to lead after day one,
while senior Shane Winslow (Portsmouth, N.H.) is
one shot back all alone in second place. Jeff
Newell (Chicopee, Mass.) sits two shots back in a tie for
third with Mike McCarthy of Holy Cross.
Lantz, Winslow and Newell all
matched their collegiate-best rounds, while for Newell it also
marked a season best.
Jeff Atkinson
(Lancaster, N.H.) sits in a tie for 15th in the
30-player field after shooting a season-best 80, while Nick
Ricci (Andover, Mass.) shot an 89 on the afternoon.
