BERNARDSTON, Mass.
- Senior Shane Winslow (Portsmouth, N.H.) of the
Southern New Hampshire University golf team fired a 72 to build a
two-shot lead after day one of the Northeast-10 Championship at
Crumpin-Fox Golf Club Sunday. Winslow's effort helped the
Penmen tie for the team lead after day one with American
International College. SNHU and AIC each posted a score of
310, one shot ahead of Adelphi and five strokes ahead of Pace.
Winslow was the only golfer to tie
par as he posted the lowest round of his collegiate career.
He is two strokes ahead of William Powers of Franklin Pierce.
Winslow is one of three Penmen golfers in the top 15, as
D.J. Lantz (New London, N.H.) is tied for
11th with a 78, while Jeff Newell
(Chicopee, Mass.) is tied for 14th with a 79.
Jeff Atkinson
(Lancaster, N.H.) shot a 81 to tie for 23rd, while
Matt Remis (Cheshire, Conn.) shot an 86 to tie for
47th in the 60-player field.
The NE-10 Golf Championship
concludes Monday. SNHU is looking for its third Northeast-10
Championship, as it captured the title in 2001 and 2002.
