MANCHESTER, N.H. - Keith Galante totaled four goals and
three assists and Albert Maione added four goals and two assists to
lead ninth-ranked Molloy College to a 16-3 men's lacrosse victory
over SNHU at Larkin Field Saturday afternoon. The Lions
improved to 2-0 on the season, while it marked the season opener
for the Penmen.
Molloy got on the board just 34
seconds into the game on a goal by Maione and never trailed,
building a 4-1 lead after one quarter and scoring the first four
goals of the second period before Mike Ball (Salem, NH)
scored with 1:33 left to cut it to 8-2, which would be the halftime
score. The Lions scored all three goals of the third period
and the first three of the fourth.
Tom Brewer had three goals for
Molloy, which also got two goals and an assist from Ryan Kudlek and
a pair of goals from Matt Dolan. In addition to Ball,
Southern New Hampshire got goals from Brian Nagle (Woburn,
MA) and Terrence
Nash (Oceanside, NY).
Robert Humann went the distance in
goal for Molloy and made 23 saves while SNHU goalie Eric Gunst (Exeter,
NH) made 22 saves. The Lions outshot the Penmen 59-47, and
took advantage of 18 SNHU penalties to go 7-17 with the man
advantage, while the hosts were 0-5 in man-up situations.
Southern New Hampshire opens
Northeast-10 play next Saturday when it entertains Pace for a 1:00
contest at Larkin Field.
