GAME 1 BOX SCORE     GAME 2 BOX SCORE

LAKE WORTH, Fla. - Host Palm Beach Atlantic University swept a softball doubleheader from Southern New Hampshire University by scores of 2-1 and 9-6 Saturday afternoon at Palm Beach Community College.  The Sailfish improved to 23-11 with the wins, while the Penmen are now 1-3 overall.

Southern New Hampshire jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the fifth when Ashley Bernstein (Stoughton, MA) belted a solo home run to left to lead off the inning, breaking up a perfect game bid by PBA's Ashley Jones.  The Sailfish would tie the game in the bottom of the sixth when a sacrifice fly by Erica Walters scored Chris Donovan.  Palm Beach Atlantic would walk off with the win in the seventh with a two-out rally.  Dani Perrotti would lift a two-out double to left-center, then Becca Bolinger would double to bring home Perrotti with the winning run.

Bernstein ended up with SNHU's lone hit in the opener as Jones faced just three batters over the minimum and struck out 16.  Amanda Barton (Franklin, NH) allowed just five hits for the Penmen and fanned eight.  She did not allow a hit until Walters singled with one away in the fourth.

In the nightcap, Palm Beach Atlantic outhit Southern New Hampshire 13-11 en route to the win.  The Sailfish would take a 1-0 lead in the first, then used five hits, a Penmen error and a walk to score five times in the second to take a 6-0 lead.  The Penmen would get three back in the top of the third, but PBA extended its lead to 8-3 in the bottom of the frame with two more runs.

Michelle Maranto (Hampstead, NH) had three hits for the Penmen in the nightcap while also driving in a run.  Melissa Pessotti (Burlington, MA) also recorded a pair of hits.  Bernstein took the loss for the Penmen, working the first 1.1 innings and allowing seven hits.

Southern New Hampshire returns to action Sunday with a 2:00 doubleheader at Saint Thomas University.
