GAME 1 BOX SCORE     GAME 2 BOX SCORE

BOCA RATON, Fla. - Host Lynn University swept a softball doubleheader from Southern New Hampshire University by scores of 2-0 and 5-1 Tuesday afternoon.  The Spartans improved to 12-17 overall while the Penmen are now 2-8 on the season.

In the opener, Lynn scored both of its runs in the fourth inning.  The Spartans would score without the benefit of a hit, as Rachael Larkins walked, Mika Tatar reached on a fielders' choice on a sacrifice bunt attempt, and Nikki Pallister would walk after the first two baserunners advanced on a passed ball.  Lynn's Brittany Gross and Jordan Angel would then each work bases-loaded walks.

Melissa Vitagliano (Bedford, NH) and Karissa Bettencourt (Norton, MA) would each record a pair of hits for the Penmen in the opener.  Andrea Ouellette (Londonderry, NH) and Nicole Arpin (Cheshire, CT) also had hits for the Penmen as SNHU outhit Lynn 6-4.  Ashley Bernstein (Stoughton, MA) took the loss for SNHU working three-plus innings and allowing two hits while walking six.  Amanda Barton (Franklin, NH) worked the final three innings in relief and gave up a pair of hits.

In the nightcap, Lynn jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first on a two-run single by Pallister, but the Penmen would get one back in the top of the fourth.  Bernstein led off the inning with a double, then scored on a single by Melissa Pessotti (Burlington, MA).  The Spartans scored again in the fifth then added two more runs in the sixth on a two-run single by Amber Havnar.

Bettencourt had two more hits in the nightcap for Southern New Hampshire.  Jen Garloff (Lebanon, PA) worked the first two innings on the mound for SNHU and took the loss, allowing two hits.  Kyla Puccini (North Dighton, MA) and Kelsey Griffin (Scarborough, ME) combined for four innings of relief for the Penmen.

Southern New Hampshire wraps up its Florida swing with a pair of games at Nova Southeastern Wednesday night starting at 6:00.
