AVONDALE, Pa. - Jeff
Newell (Chicopee, MA) placed in a tie for 14th
place to lead the Southern New Hampshire University golf team to a
fifth place finish out of 16 schools at the Goldey Beacom
Invitational held Monday and Tuesday at Hartefeld National Golf
Club. The Penmen posted a two-day score of 622, 15 strokes
behind tourney champion Adelphi University.
After carding an 80 on day one,
Newell recorded a 74 on day two. D.J. Lantz
(New London, NH) and John DeVito (Nashua, NH) each
recorded two-day scores of 156 to finish tied for 19th,
while Shane Winslow (Portsmouth, NH) carded a
two-day score of 157 to place in a tie for 25th.
Andrew Maziarz (Cumberland, RI) finished with a
two-day total of 160, good for 36th.
SNHU returns to action Sunday and
Monday at Dowling's Peter King Invitational.
