WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -
D.J. Lantz (New London, NH) finished in sixth place to
lead the Southern New Hampshire University golf team to third place
out of 10 schools at the American International College
Invitational held Monday and Tuesday at Springfield Country
Club. The Penmen, who were playing in their regular season
finale, finished with a two-day score of 646 and shot a 317 on
Tuesday.
Lantz carded a 79 on Monday and
followed that up with a 77 Tuesday for a score of 156 to finish 12
shots behind medalist Garrett Beyor of AIC. John
Devito (Nashua, NH) finished one shot back of Lantz to
finish in a seventh-place tie, while Shane Winslow
(Portsmouth, NH) fired consecutive rounds of 82 to finish
22nd overall.
Andrew Maziarz
(Cumberland, RI) totaled a score of 170 after shooting an 82
Tuesday to place in a three-way tie for 32nd, while
Jeff Newell (Chicopee, MA) shot an 81 on day two
and tied for 37th with a total of 173.
SNHU, which is currently ranked No.
7 in the East Region, will now await word of possible selection to
the NCAA Division II East Regional, which will be held May 4-6 at
The Glade Springs Resort in Beckley, WV.
