WORCESTER, Mass. -
Pitcher Ryan Quinn (Lebanon, Conn.), who recently
wrapped up a four-year career with the Southern New Hampshire
University baseball program, has signed a professional contract
with the Worcester Tornadoes of the independent Can-Am League.
Quinn, a righty, started 12 games
for the Penmen this season and recorded a 5-5 record, threw five
complete games and posted a team-best 3.50 earned run
average. He struck out a single-season school record 100
batters on the season while walking just 21 in 87.1 innings of
work. He led the Northeast-10 in strikeouts during the
regular season and ranked 10th in Division II in
strikeouts and 22nd in strikeouts per game
(10.31). For his efforts, he collected Northeast-10 Third
Team All-Conference honors.
The Tornadoes, who are managed by
former Boston Red Sox and MLB All-Star catcher Rich Gedman,
currently sit third in the standings in the six-team Can-Am League
with a record of 22-24 through Sunday. SNHU head coach Scott
Loiseau played for the Tornadoes during the 2005 and 2006 seasons.
