RELEASE
MANCHESTER, N.H. - Danny
Hernandez (Salem, N.H.), a junior on the Southern New
Hampshire University men's soccer team, was honored Wednesday by
the Premier Development League (PDL) for his play with the PDL's
New Hampshire Phantoms. Hernandez was an Honorable Mention
selection to the PDL Team of the Week.
Hernandez, a junior forward for the Penmen, scored two goals for
the Phantoms in a 3-1 win over the Rhode Island Stingrays on
Wednesday, July 1. He broke a 1-1 tie by scoring the
game-winning goal in the 85th minute, then added an
insurance goal for the Phantoms in the 89th minute in a
game played at SNHU's Larkin Field.
Hernandez is one of four players with SNHU ties playing for the
Phantoms this summer. Two current SNHU players, senior Paulson
Edum (Calabar, Nigeria) and sophomore Ethan
Lapierre (Manchester, N.H.) are playing with the club,
along with Brendan
Joseph (Bedford, N.H.), who wrapped up his Penmen
career in 2008.
The Phantoms have four games remaining in their 2009 season,
including a pair of home games at SNHU. New Hampshire hosts
Newark on Saturday, July 18 at 7:30 pm, then entertains Long Island
the following day in a 4:00 match at Larkin Field.
