NORTH SUTTON, N.H.
- The Southern New Hampshire University golf team finished seventh
out of eight teams at its own SNHU Penmen Invitational that wrapped
up Monday at Country Club of New Hampshire. The Penmen
finished with a two-day score of 666, 35 strokes back of team
champion Assumption College.
B.J. Powers of Franklin Pierce University captured medalist honors
after defeating Ryan Myers of Assumption in a one-hole
playoff. Both Powers and Myers finished with two-day totals
of 153.
Freshman Chris Weilandt (Franklin, Mass.) was the
top finisher for SNHU, firing a 79 on Monday to finish with a
two-day score of 161, good for a tie for 12th. Classmate
Vince Kimball (Lebanon, N.H.) finished 15th after
posting an 85 on Monday en route to a two-day score of 162.
Shane Winslow (Portsmouth, N.H.) shot 83 for the
second day in a row and finished 26th.
Matt Reims (Cheshire, Conn.) and Nick
Burke (Sandwich, Mass.) each shot 90 Monday.
Southern New Hampshire wraps up its fall schedule next Monday and
Tuesday when it competes at the NEIGA Championship at The Captains
in Brewster, Mass.
