NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Ninth-ranked Southern New Hampshire University played a man down for nearly 50 minutes, but the Penmen were able to play Southern Connecticut State University to a 1-1, double-overtime Northeast-10 men's soccer tie Saturday.  SNHU extended its unbeaten streak to six games and is now 11-1-3 overall and 7-1-3 in the NE-10, while the Owls move to 11-2-2 and 8-2-2 in the league.

Trailing 1-0 at halftime, SNHU would go down a man 17 minutes into the second half when the Penmen were assessed a red card.  The game would be tied 1-1 at the 66:32 mark when Southern New Hampshire received an Owl own goal.

Southern Connecticut had taken a 1-0 lead in the 33rd minute when Victor Hernandez scored on a feed from Cedric Panzu.

Esposito made seven saves for the Owls while Jon Mayo (Merrimack, N.H.) turned aside one shot for Southern New Hampshire.  The hosts generated a 17-10 shot advantage on the evening.

Southern New Hampshire plays its third of four consecutive road games to close out the regular season Tuesday when it travels to Northeast-10 leading and No. 3 nationally Franklin Pierce University for a 7:00 contest.
