Box Score MANCHESTER, N.H. – Andrew
Brown (Chelmsford, Mass.) totaled two goals and two
assists for the Southern New Hampshire University Penmen but it was
not enough as the Penmen fell to the Hawks of Saint Anselm College
Saturday afternoon at Larkin Field. With the loss, the Penmen
even their record to 1-1 overall and 0-1 in the Northeast-10, while
the Hawks now sit at 2-1 overall and 1-0 in the NE-10.
The two teams exchanged goals for most of the first quarter
until back-to-back Saint Anselm goals gave the Hawks a 4-2
advantage at the end of the first quarter. Gary
McKay (Billerica, Mass.) would tally his lone goal of the
game ten seconds into the second quarter on an assist from
Brown. The Hawks would answer on an unassisted goal from
Colin Lacey, and SNHU would tally the next two goals to give the
Hawks a 5-4 advantage at halftime.
SNHU would tally the first goal of the third period, but Saint
Anselm would answer with four goals. Brown would add the final
Penmen goal would 0:43 left in the game to give the Hawks the 9-6
victory.
Greg Reynolds (Scituate, Mass.) added a goal
and an assist to the Penmen offense, while Keith
Merluzzo (Billerica, Mass.), Terrence
Nash (Oceanside, N.Y.) and McKay all added single
tallies. Marc Novaco (Chelmsford, Mass.)
dished out two assists.
Pat Acone earned the win in net for Saint Anselm and recorded 16
saves. Eric Gunst (Exeter, N.H.) recorded 18
saves for the Penmen, as the Hawks outshot SNHU 42-35.
Southern New Hampshire is idle until next Saturday when they
travel to Florida to take on Florida Southern University at 2:00
p.m.
