RINDGE, N.H. – Keith Merluzzo (Billerica, Mass.) totaled two goals and an
assist and scored the game-winning goal with 9:20 left as Southern
New Hampshire University posted a 5-4 Northeast-10 men's
lacrosse win over Franklin Pierce University at Sodexo Field
Tuesday night. The Penmen improved to 4-6 overall and 2-4 in
the NE-10, while the Ravens are now 4-4 and 1-4 in the league.

(Scituate, Mass.), Andrew Brown (Marshfield,
Mass.) and Steve Miley (Cranston, R.I.) each
totaled single goals for the Penmen, with Reynolds also adding an
assist. Four different players tallied single goals for
Franklin Pierce.
Southern New Hampshire led 4-3 at
halftime, and after a scoreless third quarter, the Ravens tied the
game 52 seconds into the fourth quarter when Ryan Dintaman scored
on a feed from Jimmy McInnis. The Penmen would register the
eventual game-winner 4:48 later when Merluzzo scored on an assist
from Marc Novaco (Chelmsford, Mass.).
The game remained scoreless until
2:38 to go in the first quarter when Miley scored on an assist from
Merluzzo. FPU's Nate Wood would tie the game with 1:52
left, but Merluzzo would reclaim the lead just eight seconds later
on a feed from Reynolds.
Brown would extend SNHU's
lead to 3-1 1:21 into the third quarter. Franklin
Pierce would tie the game on goals by Shea Campbell at 7:16 and
Brendan Cahill at 6:11. The Penmen would take a 4-3 lead into
halftime when Reynolds scored 5:10 before intermission.
Eric Gunst
(Exeter, N.H.) made 11 saves for SNHU, while Campbell turned aside
13 shots for the Ravens as the Penmen outshot Franklin Pierce
34-26.
Southern New Hampshire returns to
action Saturday when it hosts Adelphi University in a 1:00
contest.
