GAME 1 BOX SCORE     GAME 2 BOX SCORE

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Elena Anderson's (Salem, Wis.) walkoff single in the bottom of the seventh inning of game two completed a Southern New Hampshire University sweep of Saint Anselm College in Northeast-10 softball Tuesday afternoon by scores of 5-3 and 3-2.  The Penmen, who improved to 5-1 at home, are now 10-14 overall and 7-7 in the NE-10, while the Hawks are 13-15 and 6-8 in the league.

Kelsey Griffin (Scarborough, Maine) opened the seventh by working a leadoff walk and was lifted for pinch runner Jessica Berardi (Raynham, Mass.).  Berardi would move to second on a sacrifice bunt by Nikki Newell (Abington, Mass.) and advanced to third on a groundout to the left side by Kate Stanley (Kingston, Mass.).

With two away, Anderson delivered a line drive down the left field line that snuck under the glove of charging Hawk left fielder Jackie Giannino to plate Berardi.

Giannino gave Saint Anselm a 1-0 lead in the top of the first with her solo home run to left-center.  The Penmen would take a 2-1 lead in the fifth when Stanley belted a two-run homer to center field.  The Hawks would tie the game in the top of the sixth when Giannino opened the frame with a walk and scored when Raylyn Glavin reached on a bases-loaded fielders' choice, with SNHU electing to get the out at third.

Stanley had three of SNHU's six hits in the opener as the Penmen outhit the Hawks 6-3.  Griffin worked 1.2 innings of relief to get the win, allowing just one hit while fanning two.  Jen Garloff (Lebanon, Pa.) allowed two hits in 5.1 innings of work, but walked six.

In game one, Saint Anselm trailed 2-1 in the fifth when Giannino and Liz Trafton hit back-to-back solo home runs to give the Hawks a 3-2 lead.  The Penmen would tie the game when Anderson was hit by a pitch to lead off the bottom of the fifth, and scored on a sac fly by Melissa Vitagliano (Bedford, N.H.).

Southern New Hampshire would hit two home runs of its own in the sixth to grab the lead for good.  Andrea Clausi (Kingston, N.Y.) hit one to center as the leadoff batter to give the hosts a 4-3 lead, then Stanley hit her first of the afternoon to right center with one away and no one on.

SNHU took a 1-0 lead in the first when a single by Melissa Pessotti (Burlington, Mass.) plated Anderson, then went up 2-0 in the second when Kelsea Cheney (Abington, Mass.) led off with a double and scored when Stanley reached on an error.  Saint Anselm got on the board in the fourth when Lizzy LeBrun led off with a home run to left.

Cristy Jenkins (Hudson, Mass.) led the Penmen with three hits in the opener as SNHU outhit Saint Anselm 11-9.  Pessotti and Cheney had two hits apiece, while Giannino led the Hawks with three hits.  Griffin earned the win for the Penmen in the circle, scattering nine hits while fanning four.

SNHU is idle until Saturday when it is scheduled to host Adelphi University in a noon doubleheader.
